Shayne, You should take up Pugsy on his offer of some basic metal work knowledge. The only bad thing about him is he is the energy bunny of metalworking and he will wear you right out.Kidding aside Pugsy would be a good teacher and someone close who you could interact with for idea of both equipment and how to do things. Shayne, welcome, happy that you joined us. We all started knowing nothing it just takes time and the desire to learn. I agree with Dutch, take Pugsy up on his offer it will save you a lot of time in learning the basics.

Welcome Shayne,

I'll throw out the same offer as Pugsy. I am located in Newmarket...not too far from you.

I work out of my garage making motorcycle parts (tanks, fenders etc) using basic handtools, stump, ewheel, and gas welding.

Thanks for the kind words Johnny, Dutch, Joe and Sean. I am very excited to learn something. Pugsy I would absolutly love to let you show me the basics. Never in my life have I turned down an opportunity to learn something. I just ordered a David Gardiner dvd and have started some searching to get a grasp on some terms and concepts. Hopefully this weekend I can get a chance to watch the dvd and do my research so that I would have a slight grasp of the things you could show me. So maybe some time after that I could arrange to meet with you. I would be willing to compensate you for your time some way or another.

Also to Derrol, I would be very interested in working with you as well. It sounds like you have something very cool going on in your garage. Any knowledge I can learn would be greatly appreciated. I would be willing to compensate you as well.

Thanks everyone

Welcome aboard Shayne!

It's always terrific to see another Ontario member join up, you'll find that there's lots of company around these parts for this kind of thing. You're definitely in good hands with Pugsy and Derrol showing you the ropes, although trying to keep up with Pugsy might prove a little challenging sometimes.

Have fun, and take lots of pictures of your progress to show us!

Ken
