Default Greetings from South Africa

Hi Everybody

My name is Trevor and I live in Cape Town , South Africa.

I want to learn more about metal shaping because I have a VW Beetle and three VW Kombi's in various states of disrepair.

All of them need rust repair and although there are panels available for all of the necessary repairs the exchange rate makes them very expensive to buy here in South Africa (Even the cheapest panel cost more than I spend on food for a week)

If I am ever going to get any of my projects on the road I am going to have to do it myself.

I have access to a lathe and have more time than money so making workshop equipment to make the panels I need is my aim.

Looking through the posts on this site there are so many good ideas to make equipment that would cost a fortune to buy.

Looking forward to learning how to make my own equipment.

Welcome here Trevor. Start a thread about your project cars and post some photographs of the before stage, and then add to the thread as you work on them.

Welcome Trevor!
There are a quite a number of Saffers on here now, though not many are active.
I have a fairly well equipped shop out in Stellenbosch, and more than half of my tools and equipment are home built. You're welcome to get in touch and come visit if you are looking for advice or help with anything.
I also run some 'Basics of Sheet Metal Shaping' courses which you might be interested in - take a look at my 'shop FB page (link in my signature below)
