Default Hey from Perth Australia

What's up guys, my names Ash.
From far away Perth.
I'm a metal "worker" by trade. Hard to really pick the field. I started my apprenticeship as a "sheet metal" fabricator but worked primarily with stainless steel, building spiral stairs and other styles of balustrade, within the architectural industry. Here is where my want to broaden my skills within the metal industry begun.

I then moved onto heavier structural mild steel work, than started chasing the money and got involved with custom drill rigs, which lead to hydraulic pipe work, than into coded welding with pressure vessels, heat exchangers and pipe spools.

Eventually, being from Western Australia, I had to tick Mining off my list so got into Mobile Mining Equipment Maintenance.. Which is where I'm at now. And between you and me.. Its soul destroying work.. I miss coded welding and wanna go back to it..

Cars have ALWAYS been a passion of mine, to a point where I tested the waters as an automotive fabrication business owner. 4-6 mths into that venture I had to get out for the stability to raise my son..
I've never truly tested my metalwork skills as far as manipulating/customizing sheet metal. I've always stayed familiar ie exhaust, inter cooler piping, manifolds, catch cans, surge tanks etc.
Yet I'm infatuated with the craft of sheet metal work and coach building. I read about it. I watch it. I research techniques and tooling.... I never DO it...

Enough procrastination!

I've since bought my dream car (previously owned a beast of the same model 9 yrs ago, sold it chasing fluff!) and it's ROTTEN!.. BUT.. I'm committed!

Soooo I've joined to once again feed my brain with fresh knowledge and learn new ways, for me, to work with metal.
With an emphasis on hand tool techniques, the ability to create panels and not just purchase them, would be amazing!

Can't wait.
