Default New member from Ontario, Canada.

Hello everyone,

My name is Shayne and I am from Uxbridge, Ontario. I have absolutly no experience with metal shaping at the moment. But being as though I am into hot rodding especially pre 1940 fords, I have a need to learn. I am looking forward to being a part of this forum. Thanks guys

Ohh, I almost forgot. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some good reading for beginners. I have no knowledge to speak of and would like to get started on the right foot with basic terms, tools and techniques. Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard.

Do a search on shrinking, stretching, welding and patterns.

Those are some of the basics on metal shaping.

Welcome aboard from a fellow Ontarian in Markham.

Too bad you just missed the Southern ON meet, but there will be more.

If you felt like some hands on instruction, I could show you how to make patterns, tuck shrinking with a stump.

Shayne, You should take up Pugsy on his offer of some basic metal work knowledge. The only bad thing about him is he is the energy bunny of metalworking and he will wear you right out.Kidding aside Pugsy would be a good teacher and someone close who you could interact with for idea of both equipment and how to do things. Shayne, welcome, happy that you joined us. We all started knowing nothing it just takes time and the desire to learn. I agree with Dutch, take Pugsy up on his offer it will save you a lot of time in learning the basics.
