Default Rookie from Washington State

My name is Tim H and I live in Spokane, WA. I'm a mechanical engineer and I've been into metalwork for about 20 years as a hobbyist. I like welding, machining, and fabrication. When I was in college I bought Ron Fournier's Metal Fabricator's Handbook. I couldn't believe all the things that could be done with sheetmetal. Years later I bought a shot bag and hammer from Fournier. To be honest my first attempts were really discouraging. Fast forward several years and I gave it another try. With the help of the internet I was able to learn some more lessons and make a couple decent parts.

Right now I have a HF english wheel (Meh...) and shrinker / stretcher. I'd really like to get a bead roller. I hope to take a class from Lazze someday because the "no beating on the metal" approach fits best with my personality. I'm hoping to someday restore an old car, but my ultimate goal is to scratch build a body. Right now I'm helping a family friend with a custom panel for an antique tractor. It's nice to finally start making things other than bowls...
