Hi - I'm working on increasing my metalworking skills and stumbled on this site - looking forward to building an e-wheel in short order. Maybe a helve hammer too...

Hi Michael, welcome to the site. A wheeling machine is a very useful tool but it is best to learn to shape metal by hand in order to understand how the metal moves. A wheeling machine is not very intuative to use.

David-
That's why I'm here-I've been doing work (patch panels, restoration work, some just plain old "artsy" stuff) with a shot bag, stump, mandrel, bucks and hammers it seems for ever, but i'm not getting any younger and would like to get some of the arm/wrist abuse automated. So I'm thinking helve hammer and wheel or planishing hammer-and where better to get educated? Michael |
