Hello from the North

Hey guys, Ryan here.

I live across the border from Detroit Michigan in Tecumseh Ontario.

Working on building an English wheel now to help me with forming a few panels for my 56 chevy wagon I'm about to get started on. Learning to Tig weld now as well (always used mig).

Cheers, Ryan

Hello Ryan, Welcome to the site. I hope your wheel build goes well, there is quite a bit of info on here about building wheeling machines and Kerry is something of an expert and will give you advice if you need any.

A wheeling machine can only do a a small part of the work on any given panel.

Tig welding has a lot of advantages over mig for joining sections of panels- don't get rid of the mig though you will always find uses for it. (plug welding etc). I prefer gas welding over tig -especially for aluminium. For steel I guess the tig is just a matter of personal choice. (I use both)

Welcome Ryan:

If you don't already have your E Wheel plans firmed up I would suggest looking under the E Wheel thread on this site. You may see something that may alter your design. Look at all posts made by Kerry Pinkerton and I might suggest you get his DVD.

Oh, I'm quite familiar with Kerry's wheel design from other forums. It is the style that I am intending to base mine off of. It'll be going together from some 4"x8"X1/4" tubing I got a killer deal on and should be pretty strong.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
