Intro

Hello, Bill here from Northern Alberta. Thankyou to the site administrators for leading me through the registration procedure, and for putting up with an odd brain fart...

A friend of mine is a 'retired' autobody/car guy who runs his own shop near where I live; he only does old car restorations and hot rods. His skills are in very high demand, to the point where he doesn't have any floor space available for new projects until the fall. He's also willing to instruct me in a few metalshaping skills, so as part of my education I have to tool up my shop to be able to practice on my own.

My stable consists of seven Harleys; 3 of which are early 80s Shovelheads. One bike is a rare 83 disc glide which will be 99% restored, as I have 99% of the original equipment including decals and paint. The other 2 Shovels are unique bikes that are in need of custom everything, including fenders. So there's a pneumatic planishing hammer in my immediate future...

The present equipment list includes a 48" metal lathe, mill drill, plasma cutter, mig and tig, along with a wide assortment of tooling and support gear. I'm not shy about gearing up for the task at hand...

Thankyou for allowing me to view your projects, participate in your discussions, and for humoring me as I'm sure to ask the occasional dumb question. And I will use the search function first :)

Cheers
/b

Bill, welcome to AllMetalShaping and thanks for the introduction. Having someone willing to teach you some of the basics one on one is a big help. When you start the restoration on the bikes please post pictures. Thanks for joining us.
