Old new guy in Texas

Hi All,
I live east of Dallas, Texas and got interested in metal shaping and welding only a few years ago. I have an old Victor 315 with a good assortment of cutting and welding tips. I bought David Gardiner’s and Kent White’s videos and have been welding both steel and aluminum. I recently made a welding table and a torch holder. Some of it is pretty ugly but I learn a little more every day. I have a bag and a few hammers, but haven’t made anything more than dents with them yet. I do a lot of woodworking also. Reading the posts is educational to me and motivates me to get out in the garage and try things.

John, welcome and thanks for the introduction. We are getting more members from your area of Texas. The videos are a great asset and will help you learn. You have enough tools to get started. Thanks for joining us.

Merry Christmas Bellypan (real name here) and welcome to Allmetalshaping.
I'm over in Arlington this morning visiting kin. Brrr....it's cold today.
Allmetalshaping has a lot to offer in the way of smashing (shaping) metal. :)
Peace,
Chaz

Good to meet you

Thanks Joe and Chaz,
Chaz the weather here is improving rapidly. I was able to get out in the garage and try a few things. I noticed from your website that you are an artist. I'm a budding artist. I’ve been budding for about 60 years now. I’ve accumulated lots of skills but lack inspiration of what to make. So far, I’ve been copying things other people make, but I’d like to do something original. I’m not trying to get rich or change the world, just make things for the grandkids. I see some potential for that in metal shaping.
