All MetalShaping - New (old) guy intro!

Hi all, well the old wrinkly has managed to get this far in the process so here goes some intro!

I'm Jim, born and raised in Scotland and recently retired after 40 or so years in an aviation services industry. So no practical experience fixing wing skins. Longest spell of practical metal working at school nearly half a century ago! So a lot to learn.

Interest in metal shaping is mainly automotive. A couple of rustyish (= rotten) cars to fix as a project to keep me out of the pub. Up until now I have been restricted to making small patches replacing panels - and using too much plastic filler. So for pre-prep I did a short blocking wheeling course for a few days and immersed myself in David Gardiner's DVD - brilliant!

I have also followed this forum for a while and impressed with content especially focus and advice offered.

I have very limited facilities in both space and facilities so i will definitely need to follow David's methodology. I have already done a wee bit of shrinking/stretching with hand tools. Beginning to understand what happens so look forward to more practice pieces before serious projectc attack.

Many thanks to all posters for the inspiration. Hopefully in time, when I get beyond the growing twisted, bent and warped scrap pile stage I hope I will be able to share my experiences too.
