New UK member, hello.
Hi, I'm James from Preston, Lancashire, in the UK.
I've been following peoples work her for a while but have had a break from metalwork while renovating my house slowly. Well, summer's almost here (hopefully, but I am in the north of England), and I have a Marlin Roadster SWB for which I'm fabricating a hard top. Although I currently can't afford the UK running costs of a 2nd car as I'm setting up a new business, I need to crack on with the roof for when the time is right. So, I'm here for inspiration, and to get my thoughts geared toward the car in general. It'll also be nice to be able to communicate with those whose work has inspired me in the past. And to all who have posted your projects on here, I am your student. Thanks |
Hi Jim and welcome!:)

Hi, good to have joined finally, I've been viewing the fine work you all do for years now.
I apologise if my signature's misleading, I'm James, the quote is from a Don Williams song, I should maybe edit that? Well, for my next visit to the workshop I'll be making a (welded) coat stand for a friend's birthday. It's not a sheet shaping project but I'm gonna enjoy looking round the site for inspiration. I'm no photographer but I'll try to share the build and finished item when I can. I also have the previous car roof build documented here (mod's, I hope this is Ok?) http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/t...kit-car.38670/ |
Hi James welcome to the forum

Thanks Peter, I'm familiar with your work.
Well, as a matter of time zones, I'm hitting the sack now. To anyone else reading who hasn't signed up yet, go for it, I got a nice welcome, so will you :) |
Welcome to the forum James. I understand what you are up against with starting a business, and renovating a house, and being able to do the things you want to do like your car. I did that myself twenty odd years ago and I had a baby at the same time. It's taken me until now to get back to building the car I started back then. You may have seen my '27 T build on here.
