Power Hammer Builder From California, Greetings!!
I am writing this post in order to appease and convince the all knowing, all powerful, metal shaping forum overlords of my worthiness.
I build Yoder style power hammers here in California and am currently involved in further development of the mechanisms and drives for these machines. I will be undertaking a new build of making and developing a Pullmax style reciprocating machine. Since I stumbled upon AllMetalShaping and saw some wonderful topics in the search I figured Id love to be a part of sharing information in the metal working field. There is an old saying "No man is your friend, No man is your enemy, Every man your teacher." I believe this is true, and I also think it never hurts to have a few friends along the way that share similar interests. Fritz |
Fritz,
Where are you in Northern California? I'm in Stockton. |
imho, I think everyone here is a student looking for that next worthy teacher/lesson...
Welcome to class, Fritz... |

Well Kerry, everyone's contributions is appreciated in my book, writing an intro post is a small price to pay for the opportunity.

Hey Gareth, heres a few pics of the recent PH build. I did away with the old school square dovetail dies and all that nasty shimming. It uses pinned round dies. This one runs on a DC motor, all future builds I will most likely use a VFD.
The entire machine is 3/8" plate with 1/2" reinforcement where the arms bolt to. There are no cast parts except for the motor pulley :) These pics might give some of you guys out there some ideas on your own build. http://i.imgur.com/jkYlBNW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/LZD6R3t.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3B3QFoA.jpg |
Nice looking machine Fritz. Feel free to place and ad in the business classifieds. People are going to want to know prices and availability.

Will do Kerry, thanks for that info, didnt know you had a classified section. Wow this membership thing keeps getting better by the minute, haha. :)

Wow Fritz! That is one nice looking machine :) I probably wish I hadn't seen that...
|
Hey Fritz - that's a fantastic machine! The more I see Yoder type machines, the more I lust after one. Your machine has just ratcheted up my desire another click or two! Welcome and have fun!

Fritz, that is a great looking machine! Like Matt, it would've been better if I'd not seen it.

There's one of those for sale in the local No Cal C.L. Is that you or a customer? Seems like a very reasonable price for something like that.

This one seems like a much better deal. For 10K (finished) it might even be painted all one color? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/tls/5914782805.html Kidding aside, your hammer is beautiful. Anyone would be proud to own something this nice. |
Yes Ken, thats mine. I went ahead and posted it in the Business Classified section here.
http://allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=16043 There are more photos, details, and a demo vid as well, enjoy! Thanks |
